Creekbend Honey
Meet the Séguin family!
Daniel and Tracy Séguin were born to farm! In 1998 they founded their 126 acre CreekBend Farm in Lavigne, Ontario and haven’t looked back!
While growing strawberries during the early years, they invited a friend to bring over some bees to help with pollination, and were stung by the apiculture bug.
Although the strawberry fields have long since been ploughed under, they have been beekeeping ever since with their current apiary flourishing to their current 100+ hives.
Their love of beekeeping has become a family affair and their three children play an important role in the hard, complex work of assessing and maintaining the health of the hives as well as collecting, extracting, filtering, creaming, and packing honey.
Lessons learned are reinforced by the occasional stinging reminder that these living colonies are to be handled with a gentle respect as an important part of a co-operative partnership.
